Bertha Armyworm (Mamestra configurata)
Monitor with our multi-component pheromone lure from late spring through the summer months. We recommend the reusable all-green Unitrap. Tested by Agriculture Canada, this trapping system proved particularly valuable for protection of canola, Brassica spp. |

Blackheaded (Cranberry) Fireworm
(Rhopobota naevana) Monitor using our multi-component lure in the Wing Trap. Consider 1-3 traps/hectare (1-3 traps/2-3 acres).
Decoy-female pheromone traps are essential to cranberry growers using Blackheaded Fireworm mating disruption pheromones. Position decoy-female traps in bogs no later than one day after mating disruption pheromone is applied. Use one trap for every 2-4 hectare (5-10 acres). Change lures every 3 weeks. (Important: keep decoy-female and standard monitoring traps separated from each other by at least 16 m (yd.)). Use with our Wing Trap I or II. |

Blueberry Maggot (Rhagoletis mendax)
Monitor with our Rhagoletis Trap and lure. To gauge population levels and timing place traps just above crop every 100 m (yd.) along field borders. Traps should be placed 5-10 m (yd.) inside field edge. Use approximately 2 traps/hectare (2 traps/2-3 acres). |

Cabbage Looper (Trichoplusia ni)
Our highly attractive multi-component lure is a superior choice to monitor population levels of this pest. Place traps on borders but within the crop. Use our standard Wing Trap, convenient Wing Trap II, or our high-capacity Unitrap. |

Click Beetles (Agriotes obscurus and A. lineatus)
Monitor for these European pest insects with highly attractive lures and the Vernon Beetle Trap. Monitor fields and susceptible crops such as potato and strawberry. Concentrate traps at field edges but also place a few traps well within the field. Highly effective tool to gauge the success of adulticide controls. Size excluder prevents the capture of large predator insects. |

Cranberry Girdler (Chrysoteuchia topiaria)
Monitor using our multi-component lure in a Wing Trap. The Unitrap can be used as a high-volume, non-sticky alternative. Consider 1-3 traps/hectare (1-3 traps/ 2.5 acres) as a minimum. |

Cutworms:
Black (Agrotis ipsilon), Pale Western (Agrotis orthogonia), and Variegated (Peridroma saucia)
Capture cutworm species using special Pherotech lures in the Wing Trap. Use our Unitrap for high volume catches. Deploy and replace as required, 1 trap/hectare (1 trap/ 2.5 acres) is a good initial trap density. |

Diamondback Moth (Plutella xylostella)
Monitor for presence and relative abundance of pest populations using our multi-component lure. For monitoring in canola, place 2 traps per field. Deploy traps along field edges at least 100 m (yd.) apart. Ensure that traps are above the canopy, about 1.2 m (1.3 yd.) above ground level. Use our Wing Trap, convenient Wing Trap II, or Delta Trap. Consider our durable Plastic Delta Trap for exceptionally wet and windy locations.

European Corn Borer (Ostrinia nubilalis-Iowa strain)
Monitor for first flight using our highly purified two-component lure. For corn, use 2 traps per field. Position traps one to two rows in from edges, separated by at least 100 m (yd.). Use a stake to hang traps about 1 m (yd.) above ground. Use with our Delta Trap or Plastic Delta Trap with replaceable insert. Replace lures and traps (or Plastic Delta inserts) every 7 to 10 days.

Lygus Bug (Lygus spp.)
Yellow 31 x 38 cm (12 x 15 in.) plastic sticky cards effectively monitor lygus bugs in many crops such as strawberries, vegetable crops and silvicultural nurseries. Place 2-3 traps per hectare (1 trap/acre) in smaller fields and 4-8 traps per 5 hectares (4-8 traps/12 acres) in larger fields.

Other Field/Greenhouse Pests
Detect and monitor using our 3 x 5 and 4 x 6 in. Card Traps. Card colours have been developed to optimize pest catch. Deploy and replace as required. Trap for many pests including Aphids, Cabbage Root Maggot, Flea Beetles, Fungus Gnats, Leafhoppers, Leafminers, Onion Fly, Seed Corn Maggot, White flies and many more. 3 x 5 cards are available in 25 and 100 pack sizes. 4 x 6 yellow cards now recommended for monitoring Western Corn Rootworm.
See our Greenhouse Traps page for more information on Pherotech's line of sticky card traps. |
